Ai New York City President, Tad Graham-Handley and Academic Dean Dave Moughalian welcomed faculty, staff and students to a recognition ceremony held yesterday in the Gallery.
The celebration was to recognize all of our students who either won or participated in such prestigious shows as the Art Director's Club New York show, the Leron D&D Window Display competition, the Save-A-Sample competition and our very own Edible Art Fashion Show. The faculty members and Department Chairs who encouraged students to enter were also recognized for their outstanding contributions. President Graham-Handley distributed certificates to the students and personally acknowledged the educators who encouraged and helped the students achieve these honors.
The competitions and their participants follow:

Save-A-Sample Competition - Sponsored by SpecSimple.com, Save-a-Sample is a recycling effort that gathers up unused brochures, fabric, finish cards from design and architectural firms and delivers them to area design schools (Ai New York City is one of the schools that benefits from these donations). Each year, they have a hand-drawing competition, in which students who enter (schools must be listed as a participating school) are asked to create exceptional hand drawings. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to the grand prize winner and the their school also receives a monetary award. We are proud of the fact that Ai New York City has won the top prize for three consecutive years!
