AI NEW YORK CITY FACULTY MEMBER PRESENTS AT COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Ai New York City faculty member John Bandman was a workshop presenter at the 34th annual New York State TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Applied Linguistics Winter Conference on Saturday March 2.  The conference was held at Teachers College Columbia University.  John has an MA in TESOL and is CELTA certified by the University of Cambridge, England.  His presentation was entitled "Technology's Role in Incorporating Authentic Materials in Today's ESL Classroom".

The summary of the conference from the TESOL conference website (http://www.nystesol.org/alwc2013.htm) appears below:

"Technology is being used in so many different ways for language education, and the 34th annual Applied Linguistics Winter Conference seeks to bring innovative ideas that implement technology in language teaching and insightful research of how technology can enhance language learning for second language learners. Attendees will gain insight into the possible ways learners can benefit from technology-mediated language teaching. Twitter, Facebook, Skype, interactive whiteboards, interactive and supplemental software, Google Docs, mobile apps... The possibilities are really endless, and as our world changes, the way people learn languages definitely changes as well."
