Ai New York City alumnus, Len Carter contratulated the three students stating that this was by far the best showing of photographs taken by students at Ai New York City!

The three students are part of a 22-student crew that are helping out at the festival, filming and photographing events.  The festival runs from April 16 and ends April 29.

Congratulations to Nigel, Adam, Jewel and all the students assisting in the Festival!  We are all very proud!

NATIONAL ART TEACHER APPRECIATION SHOW RECEPTION

Throughout the month of April, Ai New York City's Gallery space was the site of an art exhibition that showcased the work of 21 area high school art teachers.  The exhibition was part of a nationwide Art Institutes initiative to show our appreciation for our high school art teachers, while at the same time call the teachers' attention to local Art Institutes and the degree programs each school offers.  Ai New York City's exhibition was coordinated by Career Services Director Helen Kogan, Senior Director of Admissions Mary Ann Grillo and curated by faculty member Miguel Martinez.  The exhibition will close at the end of this month.

An opening reception for the teachers was held at Ai New York City's Gallery on Thursday, April 19.  Fourteen of the 21 teachers exhibiting attended with their guests.  The instructors and guests were given a tour of the campus.

AI NEW YORK CITY FACULTY MEMBER SIGNS BOOK CONTRACT

When Ai New York City Fashion Studies/Liberal Arts & Sciences lead instsructor Monica Spence is not assisting students in creating tomorrow, she is also an author!

Ms. Spence has just signed a publishing contract with eTreasures Publishing for "Love Is Not Proud" to be published in e-book and print formats sometime this year.

A historical romance, "Love Is Not Proud" is a suspense-filled love story and a murder mystery involving Marco de Medici, a young Renaissance nobleman from Florence and Susanna d'Angelo, a widowed midwife who he saves from being attacked by two ruffians outside her home.  Marco is wounded in the attack and Susanna takes him into her home and heals his wounds.  The two fall in love, but with society, the power of the Medici family and the accusation of murder hovering over Susanna's brother against them, how can their love survive?

The Ai New York City Blog will keep everyone posted as to the book's launch date!  If you see Monica in the hallway, be sure to congratulate her on this marvelous achievement!
